Hogar Collection is pleased to present “Two Times”, October 13 – December 4, 2005. In his first New York solo exhibition,Argentinean born, Brazilian based Photographer Martin Gurfein will present his newest body of work that investigates the many, “inner landscapes” of New York City’s sceneries including its architecture, cultural icons, elevator numbers and others. As a fine art photographer with a career background in professional fashion and music photography, Gurfein’s work contains and evokes a certain kind of provocative graphic imagery that takes a micro-view of specific unnoticed details of otherwise common and familiar things. Combining that with a fervent-like reverberating patterning, he creates kaleidescoping scenes that both elevate the subjects into a different light as they also become abstracted simultaneously into incantations of their own. In creating patterned images, he enables for a multiplicity of endless possible image combinations, creating a game that allows the viewer/s to develop their imagistic perceptions. As well for Gurfein, this process leads him to a path of searching for the possibilities of the final image, the image that then transforms into new interpretations, new looks and thus further compositions.
His work has been shown in museums and galleries throughout Latin America as well he has been featured extensively in magazines and newspapers internationally.
