Hogar Collection is pleased to announce, All Alive at Once, new works by Matthew Johnson. In his first solo show at the gallery, Johnson will be exhibiting paintings of environments that are built on the foundations of order, disorder, integration and disintegration. They are bold and chaotic hyper-landscapes that are at times filled to the brim with mish mosh and at other times portray expanding systems that exist solitarily in vast and vacant expanses. The scenes capture moments where the generation and degeneration of the systems fractal and spin out architectural and stem-like structures that reveal ideas of an inevitable pattern of fluctuating cycles. Depicting a somewhat apocalyptic viewpoint of total destruction, be it a futuristic cartoon fantasy world one, the scenes simultaneously conjure ideas of rejuvenation and rebirth. In a sort of host-parasite type of relationship, the systems build upon what they inhabit/destroy, metamorphosing their new environments into new entities.
